This plumber strongly believes that endless hot water is the best hot water. I personally recommend using a tankless natural gas water heater for your home’s hot water needs.
In 2010 I switched from a 50 gallon natural gas water heater to a tankless natural gas water heater, and I’ll never go back to a tank.
I do not find running out of hot water to be enjoyable whatsoever. Sometimes after working oustide on cold days I like to stay in the hot shower extra long to get my body warm. Sometimes after a day of physically demanding work, I like to let the hot water sooth my aching muscles and joints for long periods of time.
Other plumbers might try to sell you a tankless water heater by pushing the energy benefits, but I won’t. My number one and only selling point is that you can take a 10 hour long shower, if you desire, and not run out of hot water.

The timeline for your installation depends on the type of system you choose. A like-for-like tankless replacement is straightforward and can often be done the same day. Upgrading from a standard tank to a tankless system, however, requires significant retrofitting.
If you are currently without hot water, we make every effort to schedule you for the next day, subject to the complexity of the job and layout requirements.
To ensure you receive the highest quality performance and full warranty protection, Swell Guy Plumbing exclusively installs our own premium natural gas tankless water heaters (Navien & Rinnai). We are unable to install customer-supplied units, as we cannot guarantee or stand behind their warranties.
Every new water heater comes with a solid manufacturer’s warranty: 10–15 years on the heat exchanger, 5–6 years on parts, and 1 year of labor covered by us.
But we like to take care of our own! When that first year of labor coverage wraps up, we’ll cut your labor costs in half (50% off) for the rest of your warranty period. While there are differing opinions on the matter, our experience shows that natural gas tankless water heaters generally outperform electric models. Electric tankless units have heavy electrical demands, often requiring up to four double-pole breakers. In many homes, this means running new wiring and potentially upgrading your entire electrical panel. Additionally, the high initial power draw can cause noticeable light flickering, and electric units simply struggle more with heating colder incoming water compared to gas.
