Steven Dyson, owner and a licensed plumber at Swell Guy Plumbing Co, is a lifelong Lowcountry resident. Graduated from The Citadel in 1995, served in the Army and Army National Guard, and became a licensed plumber in 1997. Born and raised in Hanahan, SC and now calls Summerville, SC home with an office in Goose Creek, SC.

You might think the term Swell Guy refers to a really good guy but it actually stems from joint swelling caused by auto-immune arthritis, thus the pufferfish in the logo. Steven was almost forced to give up plumbing in 2023 after receiving a spondyloarthritis diagnosis, but thanks to modern medicine he was able to keep doing the work he has always loved to do.

What is your dispatch fee, and do you charge for diagnostics?

Our $45 dispatch/scheduling fee simply covers getting our truck and plumber to your door.

A separate diagnostic fee is only applied if we have to spend significant time uncovering a hidden issue—such as isolating a hard-to-find leak, testing internal components on a tankless water heater, or running a sewer camera.

Fortunately, 95% of the time, we can pinpoint the issue in under 10 minutes and won’t charge a diagnostic fee at all. Our goal is to fix your plumbing problem, not nickel-and-dime you before we even shake hands.

Do you give free estimates?

Swell Guy Plumbing Co charges a $45 dispatch/scheduling fee (during normal service hours) to visit your property. The $45 counts towards any work we perform.

Do you give pricing over the phone?

Swell Guy Plumbing offers transparent price ranges for many of our services which can be viewed on our website. We do not give prices over the phone because we have to look at the job first to give you a definite price.

Do you work with home warranty companies?

No. Swell Guy Plumbing does not work with home warranty companies.

Do you work on rental properties?

Yes, Swell Guy Plumbing works on rental properties but we require the property owner to schedule the appointment and meet us on site.

Do you offer financing?
