How Did We Get Our Name?
You might think the term Swell Guy refers to a really good guy but it actually stems from joint swelling caused by auto-immune arthritis, thus the pufferfish in the logo. Physically demanding plumbing work and constant joint swelling don’t mix very well. I (Steven Dyson) was almost forced to give up plumbing in 2023 after months of uncontrolled and unexplained joint swelling that eventually led to a spondyloarthritis diagnosis. Thanks to modern medicine and a pretty awesome rheumatologist, all that swelling is just a bad memory and I am able to keep doing the work I enjoy doing.
