Constantly Running Toilet: The most common problem we encounter.Typically caused by a faulty fill valve or flapper.
Leaking Around the Base: Typically caused by a bad wax seal or a damaged flange. You may also experience a sewer gas smell when the flange or seal is damaged.
Wobbly Toilets: Usually caused by a damaged flange.
Weak Flushes: Flapper not letting enough water leave the tank or sometimes the rim channels or siphon jet is clogged (usually by scale buildup). Could also be caused by a partial clog in the trap or a shifted wax ring.
Clogged Toilets: When only your toilet is clogged, we typically find that something has been flushed and got stuck in the trap or at the horn. We’ve found credit cards, ID cards, tooth brushes, paint brushes, lots of toys, a remote control, and even an iPhone stuck in the toilet trap. **FYI – getting certain objects out of the trap is not highly successful, so you may be looking at a toilet replacement.
To keep things fair and affordable, our $45 dispatch fee is applied directly to your toilet service. Think of it as a down payment on getting your toilet working perfectly again.
Toilet Tank Repairs: $185 – $350 (flappers, fill valves, flush valves, tank to bowl gaskets, flush handles)
Toilet Wax Seal Replacement: $225 – $300 (we always check the flange closely when replacing the wax seal)
Toilet Replacement: $350 – $950 (we recommend and install American Standard and Gerber toilets)
** Please note that we charge extra for 1 piece toilets and clean side toilets. We also charge extra for toilets above ground floor.
Some common questions we get from customers.
Swell Guy Plumbing recommends 1.6 gallons per flush American Standard or Gerber toilets with a standard 2″-3″ flapper.
With over 25 years of Lowcountry plumbing experience, we’ve seen what happens when less water is used to flush waste down a sewer line (such as 1 gpf and 1.28 gpf). We believe that 1.6 gallons per flush is enough water to keep waste flowing through your sewer line, preventing a buildup.
We typically only recommend a pressure-assist toilet if your current toilet struggles to clear waste from the bowl.
No, we do not recommend putting bleach tabs in a toilet tank. Bleach is bad for the components of your tank and may lead to leaks.
Swell Guy Plumbing recommends and uses wax seals. Rubber and neoprene seals require the flange to be installed perferctly and the floor to be perfectly level, or they will leak.
And we’ll put over 25 years of Lowcountry toilet repair experience to work for you.
