The owner is a lifelong Lowcountry resident with more than 25 years of Lowcountry plumbing experience. We value our loyal customers and we care what our neighbors think about us.
Swell Guy Plumbing provides plumbing, water heater, tankless water heater, sewer/drain, natural gas, and backflow services to our Lowcountry neighbors. We service Goose Creek, Hanahan, Ladson, Moncks Corner, North Charleston, and Summerville, SC.

Steven Dyson
Owner & Licensed Plumber
My name is Steven Dyson and I am the owner and licensed plumber at Swell Guy Plumbing Co. I am a lifelong Lowcountry resident, born and raised in Hanahan, SC. In 1995 I graduated from the Citadel, then served in the Army and Army National Guard. I’m also a husband and father who now calls Summerville, SC home.
In 1997 I became a licensed plumber. I learned the trade by working for an old school plumber during my summer breaks and any other free time I had throughout high school and college.
In case you thought the name Swell Guy refers to a really nice guy, it actually refers to uncontrolled and unexplained joint swelling caused by auto-immune arthritis. I was diagnosed with spondyloarthritis in 2023 after months of constant knee and ankle swelling. My wife started calling me “swell guy” and the name stuck. The pufferfish in the logo symbolizes my “nemesis spirit animal” because my joints would swell for no reason.
Plumbing is a physical job that doesn’t mix well with joint swelling. So I actually planned to get out of plumbing to find an easier profession. But thanks to an awesome rheumotologist and modern medicine, I’m feeling better than ever and I’m able to continue doing the work I’ve always enjoyed doing.
So now I’m back and trying to grow our company again, one customer at a time. At Swell Guy Plumbing Co, we value our loyal customers and we enjoy meeting our neighbors while helping them solve their plumbing problems. And hopefully, once you’ve used our service, you’ll say “my plumber is a Swell Guy”.
