We can help with your annual backflow test.

Your water provider requires that you test your Hanahan, SC backflow prevention assembly every year.

Backflow prevention assemblies prevent waste water and other harmful chemicals entering the public drinking water system. This is why your water provider requires annual testing.

Backflow tests must be scheduled and paid for online. You must also upload a copy of the letter you received from your water provider when scheduling.

Once scheduled, Swell Guy Plumbing will test your assembly and send the results to your water provider by Friday of the week that we did the test.

If your assembly fails the initial test, we will attempt to clean the internal components and immediately retest the assembly. This usually solves the problem but if it fails the second test, we will provide you with a repair estimate to correct the problem.

The cleaning is included in the test fee but repairs are not.

***Please note that SGP no longer tests DCVA assemblies installed below ground.

We repair 3/4′-1″ DCVA, PVB, and RP backflow prevention devices.

Hanahan Backflow Replacement

Swell Guy Plumbing replaces 3/4″-1″ DVCA, PVB,and RP backflow prevention assemblies.

Hanahan Backflow Freeze Protection

Swell Guy Plumbing recommends installing a freeze protection valve to protect your backflow prevention assembly from freeze damage during our rare freezing nights.

We do not provide insulation bags because they do not produce heat or allow water to flow through the assembly when temperatures fall below freezing. A freeze protection valve allows water to flow through assembly, preventing it from freezing.

Hanahan Backflow Termination

If you are no longer using your residential irrigation sytem, we can remove your backflow prevention assembly and cap the pipes below ground.

**Please note that we cannot terminate a backflow prevention assembly that is used for pool fillers.

Hanahan Commercial Backflow

Swell Guy Plumbing tests 3/4″-1.5″ commercial backflow prevention assemblies.

Business customers must call in to schedule a backflow test.

Commercial backflow tests start at $125.
